Sprouting - Seeds for Sprouting
This is a great way to expand a "seed only"
diet in your bird. If you only sprout for one - two
days, your bird thinks these are still seeds...but so
much more nutritious. After a few tries this way you
can sprout longer, or start adding small pieces of
veggies...
My finches seem to
prefer when the sprouts are longer and even with tiny
green leaves. At each level the sprouts contain
different levels of nutrients and us bird owners know
that variety is the key to good nutrition in both our
birds and ourselves.
These sprouts are not just for birds, they're healthy for
humans too - these are human grade seeds
Simple Sprouts
Forget all of the complicated directions you've read in the past about how to
sprout. There's nothing complicated about it. Live foods have been doing it for
years, all by themselves. This is easy stuff, and perfectly safe with the same
common sense precautions you'd use with any fresh food.
Although the word
"sprouts" is used to describe the generic group of living growing whole foods,
we're not talking about the same things you see on salad bars. For our purposes,
when using the word "sprouts" I'm referring to germinated seeds, grains, and
legumes. This is the time when the maximum nutrition is available to do the
incredible work of growing a plant from a seed, when that seed is packed with
all of the nutrients needed to begin that miraculous process...and this is the
time when you want your birds to benefit from all of these nutritional elements,
before they are used up in the making of the plant - when the food is
germinated, and before actual growth reaches about 1/4".
Make a fresh batch for your birds every day!
